Description:	Densely tufted perennial grass, 60-200 cm tall. Inflorescence a long, narrow panicle. Spikelets 2-3 cm long, straw-coloured to brown, often ciliate with black tubercles. Superior lemma pubescent, tapering into bristles. Central awn up to 6 cm long.
