Its purpose is to make information, which in the past was generally available only to those with physical access to the collections, more widely available.
Taxonomic literature Botanicus Digital Library Botanicus is a freely accessible portal to historic botanical literature from the Missouri Botanical Garden Library.

World herbaria Index Herbariorum This is a searchable database of information about the world's herbaria.
