Perennial herb 5-30 cm high, growing from a bulb. Leaves shiny, often mottled with purple. Inflorescences 3-3 per plant. Flowers greenish-grey to turquoise-blue with purple stamens. See Plants of the World Online and African Plants Database. |
Notes: | The taxonomic status of this species is unknown. It is only known from the type (Buchanan 193) and was described from a plant that flowered at Kew in 1893 as Scilla buchananii Baker. In the latest revision of Scilla its new affinities are unclear. It probably belongs in Ledebouria but has not yet been formally transferred. |
