Description: |
Perennial herb, up to 1.5 m tall, growing from a thickened tuberous rootstock. Leaves ovate in outline, 4-10 cm long and 2-7 cm wide, deeply divided into 3-7 narrowly linear segments; margins pubescent or scabrid, slightly rolled under; petiole up to 5 cm long, clsping the stem at the base. Capitula 1-3 terminal at the branches, on stalks up to 15 cm long. Involucre 8-13 mm long; outer bracts 8-10, green, hairy at the base; inner bracts 8-9, yellow with a reddish stripe, hairless excpet for the apex. Ray florets 20-35 mm long, orange or golden yellow; diskflorets pale creamy-yellow. Achenes narrowly obovoid, 6-7 mm long, black, with 2 aristae up to 2 mm long, sometimes sparsely barbed. |
