Description: |
Robust plant, 2–9 m tall in flower, suckering from the base. Stem erect, 6–12 cm thick and woody at the base, hollow, more or less pubescent above. Rosette–leaves of unflowered plant sessile, narrowly oblanceolate to oblong–ovate, 25–90 cm long, weakly pubescent or hairless above, hairless or pubescent beneath especially on the veins; margin doubly toothed. Inflorescence dense, unbranched, 1–3 m long; bracts linear to narrowly lanceolate, 25–75 mm long. Calyx–lobes narrowly triangular to linear, flat, 10–28 mm long, entire, more or less pubescent especially on the outside. Corolla 25–35 mm long, greenish or greenish white often tinged with blue or purple, split to the base on the back, more or less pubescent on the outside at least at the apex, hairless inside; two lateral petals linear, more or less united with middle petals below; three middle petals united to form a lip with linear lobes. Capsule c. 10 mm long, 10–nerved, pubescent, crowned by the hardening calyx–lobes and with two short valves. |
