Description: |
Shrub or small tree 3–11 m high; young branches finely velvety; bark brown. Leaves oblong- elliptic, narrowly elliptic or narrowly obovate, 5–13 cm long, fairly thinly textured, hairless; midrib flat to impressed above, prominent beneath; domatia hairy, sometimes very weakly pitted; margin recurved; petiole 3–6 mm long, finely velvety; stipules with limb 1–1.5 mm long and an awn 3–6 mm long. Inflorescences 1–5-flowered axillary , sessile clusters, sometimes a few borne at naked nodes; bract and bracteoles cup-shaped, pubescent. Calyx tube almost fully hidden by upper bracteolar cup, hairless. Corolla colour unknown; tube 3–6 mm long hairless outside, sometimes with very few hairs inside; lobes 4-6, 5–7 mm long, pubescent outside. Fruit orange or red, c. 4.5 mm in diameter when ripe. |
