Description:
Branching shrub up to 4 m high, rarely taller. Leaves more or less broadly elliptic or obovate, usually 12–20 cm long, 1–3 times as long as broad, usually dark blueish green; rather abruptly narrowed in the lower third. Heads 10–16 cm diameter. Bracts usually persistently silvery hairy, sometimes becoming hairless towards the margin. Flowers bright rose pink.
Notes: A very attractive plant with bright pink flowerheads. See var. divaricata for comparison.
Derivation of specific name: angolensis: of Angola, although this particular variety does not occur there.
Habitat: In Miombo woodland and submontane wooded grassland.
Altitude range: 1100 - 2000 m

Worldwide distribution: Southern DRC, Tanzania, northern Malawi and Zambia.
