Description: |
Herb growing from a horizontal, regularly constricted rhizome; roots wiry bearing white tubers at tips; leaves in 2 rows, 4-9 per plant, linear to linear-lanceolate, 10-48 cm x 11-22 mm, margins shortly ciliate, leaf bases and cataphylls blotched with greenish-brown to reddish brown spots; peduncle long, straight, seldom curved upward above the base; inflorescence a long raceme; floral bracts lanceolate, aristate, ciliate on margins; pedicles articulated below middle, 1-3 per node, 5-10 mm long in fruit; perianth white, c. 7 mm long; tepals obovoid, 3-veined on keel; stamens shorter than perianth; anthers linear, as long as or longer than filaments; style slightly exserted; capsule globose, trigonous, deeply lobed, smooth, c. 4 x 5 mm; seeds saucer-shaped, c. 2.2 mm across. |
