| Description: |
Dioecious, aquatic herb. Stems erect. Adult leaves: lamina 11-22 × 6-13.5 cm, submerged or floating, elliptic, elliptic-oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, rarely ovate; base usually cuneate (only not cuneate in laminas more than 14 cm long); margin entire. Flowers unisexual. Male flowers up to 60 or more per spathe, up to 6 developing together at anthesis; pedicels exserted; petals white with a cream or rose base. Stamens 12; staminodes 3. Female flowers 1 per spathe; petals white with a yellowish base; ovary with 9-15 carpels. |
