Description: |
Robust perennial herb, up to more than 1.5 m high. Stem simple, erect, densely hairy with tubercle-based hairs. Leaves at the base broadly oblong-elliptic, up to 45 cm long, hairy with tubercle-based hairs, more densely so on the veins and midrib beneath; margin crenate-sinuate; petiole hairy, up to 5 cm long. Leaves along the stem lanceolate, up to 7 cm long, sessile and clasping the stem. Inflorescence terminal and axillary clusters of 1-5 capitula. Involucres up to 5.5 cm wide, more or less hemispheric, flattened at the base; bracts in 5 or more series, outer ovate-lanceolate, c. 1.5 cm long, densely hairy outside; inner bracts narrower and longer, up to 2.5 cm. Ray-florets numerous, yellow, 3-toothed at the apex; disk-florets up to 1 cm long, yellow. |
