| Description: |
Perennial climbing herb growing from a large tuberous rootstock. Stems up to 6 m long, becoming woody when older. Leaves broadly ovate in outline, palmately 5-7-lobed, fleshy, almost hairless, broadly cordate at the base. Flowers in axillary heads unisexual, slightly actinomorphic with 2 larger petals 10-18 mm long, brownish-yellow, often tinged orange or pinkish; female flowers occasionally solitary. Fruit subglobose, 4.5-6.5 cm long, cylindric-obconic, smooth and hairless, obscurely veined. |
