Description:
Erect perennial herb, up to 1 m high, with a bad smell. Stems normally unbranched below the inflorescence, internodes conspicuously ridged and hairy. Leaves mainly basal but also in a few opposite pairs along the stem, mostly pinnate with the terminal leaflet larger than the lateral leaflets. The leaflets are much narrower and finer on the upper leaves, margins irregularly dentate. Inflorescence branched, up to 30 × 10 cm. Flowers small, white, often pink in bud.

Habitat: In vleis, marshy areas and stream sides.
