Description:
Shrub or small tree 2–5 m tall; young branches covered with shiny red bark, older branches buff and sometimes dark-spotted, often with transverse cracks. Leaves elliptic to broadly elliptic, 6–12.5 cm long, thinly textured to somewhat leathery, somewhat glossy above; main lateral veins 6–8 pairs, veining raised on both surfaces; domatia more or less sparsely pubescent; petiole up to 1 cm long; stipules triangular, 2–3 mm long, with an apical arista up to 1 mm long. Flowers 5-merous, white, in 1–7-flowered axillary clusters, often with a sticky coating. Corolla tube 6–10 mm long, 4 mm wide at throat; lobes oblong, rounded, 10–11 mm long. Fruit greenish with rose-coloured striations, becoming black when mature, 7–9 mm long.
