Description:
Shrub or small tree. Bark smooth; branchlets ridged with lenticels, outer bark wearing off showing paler underbark. Leaves opposite, elliptic to ovate with a distinct slender drip-tip, mid- to dark green, hairless except for hair-tuft domatia below; stipules triangular with a slender tip, joined at the base, persistent. Flowers solitary on slender stalks, greenish-cream, c. 8 mm with conspicuous orange-brown anthers. Fruit pendent on a slender stalk up to 2 cm long, subspherical, fleshy, c. 10 mm in diameter, black when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: uhligii: after Viktor Karl Uhlig (1857-1911), a German geologist at the University of Vienna who collected in Tanzania.
Habitat: In the understorey of evergreen forest.
