Description: |
Shrub or small tree. Bark grey to pale brown; branches opposite above the leaf axils with a distinct round or heart-shaped leaf below the joint of the branches. Leaves opposite, elliptic to obovate, up to 12 × 5 cm, dark glossy green, hairless above, variously hairy or hairless below. Flowers in opposite axillary clusters, c. 1 cm in diameter, white with a green style. Fruit ellipsoid, up to 1.5 cm long, hairless or hairy, red when ripe, crowned with the persistent calyx. |
