Description: |
Perennial aromatic herb with one or sometimes several annual stems, 0.2-1 m high, growing from a woody tuberous rootstock. Stems erect, 4-angled, more or less densely covered in ascending or spreading hairs. Leaves sessile or very shortly petiolate, sometimes clasping the stem, narrowly ovate-elliptic, 2-13 cm long, sparsely hairy and with reddish sessile glands; margin shallowly serrulate; petiole 0-8 mm long. Inflorescence lax to condensed with 6-flowered clusters up to 35 mm apart. Calyx 2-3 mm long,up to 7 mm in fruit,with red sessile glands, funnel-shaped to tubular, slightly curved. Corolla pinkish purple to deep reddish purple, 12-17 mm long, pubescent and with red sessile glands; tube 7-10 mm long; upper lip vertical, as long as lower lip; lower lip 5-7 mm long, horizontal or ascending, enclosing the stamens, densely pubescent inside with purple hairs. |
