Description:	Annual or perennial twining herb, growing from a thick taproot. Stems up to 3 m long, pubescent. Leaves ovate, up to 12.5 × 10 cm, cordate at the base, pubescent on both surfaces. Flowers funnel-shaped, white to pink, often darker in the very narrow tube, in heads arising from a distinct boat-shaped bract. Capsule ovoid, hairless. See the similar I. involucrata for comparison, which also has boat-shaped bracts subtending the flowers. That species has larger flowers with a wider corolla tube and acute sepals.
