Description:
Erect annual herb, 50-130 cm tall. Young stems hairy. Leaves broadly ovate to almost round in outline, up to 12 × 10 cm, variously unlobed to deeply 3-5-lobed on the same plant, usually pubescent on both surfaces with longer simple hairs on the veins above and stellate hairs below; base slightly to distinctly cordate; margin irregularly toothed or lobed again. Flowers in few-flowered terminal heads, white to pale yellow, 1-2 cm in diameter. Epicalyx absent. Calyx 5-7 mm long; lobes shorter than the capsule. Fruit an oblong-ellipsoid capsule, 10 × 7 mm, pubescent, carpels awned. Seeds minutely verruculose, hairless.
