Description: |
Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree, often with long branches. Leaves alternate, elliptic to ovate, broadly tapering, up to 12 cm long, light green, shiny and hairless on both surfaces; net-veining conspicuous; margin entire, somewhat wavy. Flowers unisexual on different trees, female flowers solitary, male flowers in small axillary clusters, yellowish-green, scented. Fruit shallowly 2-lobed, somewhat flattened, fleshy, c. 1.2 cm, densely velvety, orange to reddish-brown when ripe. |
Notes: | This species is very similar to Drypetes gerrardii but always has entire leaf margins; more strongly and irregularly reticulate veining and stigmas that are not linear but obdeltoid and bifid at the apex. |
