Description: |
Climbing or twining herb, with slender stems, 0.2–1 m long, from a tuberous rootstock. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets narrowly elliptic-oblong to elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, up to 8 cm long (in this variety), pubescent to densely velvety, obscurely gland-dotted; venation usually prominent and reticulate, particularly beneath, usually pale and yellowish, at least in dried specimens; petiole 0.7–3 cm long;; petiolules 0.5–1.5 mm long; stipules lanceolate, 2.5–6 mm long. Flowers solitary to few in very lax inflorescences; peduncle 1.3–3.5 cm long; bracts ovate or lanceolate, c. 1–5 mm long Calyx pubescent to silky hairy; tube 2 mm long; lobes lanceolate, 2.5–8 mm long, the lowest usually the longest. Standard yellow, flushed reddish, obovate, 7–12(14) mm long, hairless or rarely pubescent; wings yellow; keel greenish-yellow. Pods falcate-oblanceolate, 15–37 mm, narrowed below, apiculate, covered with rather long and shorter pubescence or silky hairy. |
