Description:
Scrambling shrub or liane. Branches long and whip-like, appressed hairy when young, later becoming hairless. Leaves alternate, obovate to oblanceolate, 7-18.5 cm long, often cordate at the base, dark green and mostly hairless above, blue-green and sparsely appressed hairy beneath, particularly on the veins; net-veining distinct on both surfaces. Flowers solitary or in 2–5-flowered, leaf-opposed clusters on slender stalks c. 2.5 cm long. Petals yellowish, thick and fleshy, densely golden-hairy. Fruit of 2-7 globose to ellipsoid carpels, up to 1 cm long, hairless, bright red when ripe.
