Description:
Liane with a woody rootstock. The leaves are subpeltate, ovate-cordate and covered in greyish indumentum; mucronate at the apex; flowers axillary or in false racemes, sexes separate; fruits green, turning bright red when ripe, held in pubescent leaf-like bracts.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: mucronata: with a small apical point; mucronate
Habitat: In open habitats: grassland and burnt veld.

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in tropical Africa, Namibia and South Africa as far as KwaZulu-Natal.
