Description:
Tiny leafless plant. Roots numerous, greyish-green, 3-4 cm long. Inflorescence 8-15 mm long, bearing 2-6 flowers. Flowers dark yellow-orange to pale orange, appearing tubular because the tepals are partially fused together. Tepals 1.5-2.5 mm long; petals slightly shorter. Spur bulbous, c. 1 mm long.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: coxii: for J.K. Cox who collected the type specimen (Cox 92) in Ghana, from which Summerhayes described the species (as Ankylocheilos coxii).
Habitat: On small branches of trees and on creepers at edge of dense riverine forest

Worldwide distribution: A scattered distribution in Africa only; it has been found in Ghana, DRC, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mauritius.
