Description: |
Delicate caespitose perennial; culms up to 120 cm high, erect, unbranched. Leaves glabrous except for scattered long hairs near the ligule; ligule (1)1.5–4 mm long, ± acute, shortly fimbriate; laminas 7–60 cm × 1–1.5 mm, linear. Racemes in terminal pairs, 4–7.5 cm long, ± plumose, long-exserted from the spatheoles; peduncles much longer than the racemes; internodes and pedicels filiform, ciliate with silky hairs up to 5 mm long on both margins. Spikelets similar, 6–7 mm long, narrowly lanceolate, reddish. Sessile spikelet: inferior glume with a broad median groove, glabrous; superior lemma bifid in the upper 1/4–1/3; awn 9–20 mm long, geniculate; anthers 2.5–3.5 mm long, straw-coloured. Pedicelled spikelet male, 5–7 mm long, mucronate. |
