Description:
Rhizome short creeping to ascending, scales reddish brown, subulate, up to 1.6 mm long. Fronds tufted, erect, practically without stipe. Lamina simple, up to 90 × 5 mm, narrowly oblanceolate to linear in outline, base tapering, apex rounded to bluntly acute, margin entire to irregular, slightly inrolled, venation obscure, glabrous with age. Sori up to 2 mm long, elliptic, up to 16 pairs, placed in two lines on either side of the midrib, exindusiate.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: nanus: dwarf, refers to the minute size of this fern.
