Epiphytic or lithophytic monopodial herbs. Leaves usually distichous, linear or ligulate, apex obtusely 2-lobed. Inflorescence axillary, 1-flowered. Flowers white, sweet-scented. Dorsal sepal usually recurved, lateral ± joined under the spur. Sepals and petals narrow. Lip entire; basal spur long. Column short with 2 parallel arms joined on the inner side to the lateral sepals and petals, giving these a characteristic twist; pollinia 2, each joined by a short stipes to a large viscidium. Worldwide: 60 species in Africa, Madagascar and the Mascarenes Malawi: 2 taxa. |
