Date of birth: 12 Oct 1926 Date of death: 28 May 2006 BiographyBelgian agricultural engineer from Catholic University of Louvain (1950), dr in Botany from the Catholic University of Louvain (1960). He was hired by INEAC at the end of his studies and left for DRC in 1951. He was assigned to the botany division and tasked with prospecting missions with with the aim of creating soil, vegetation and land use maps. He successively carried out the missions between 1951-1957 in Ituri, Bugesera-Mayaga, Yangambi and Kasai. Between two missions, he was assigned to the conservation of the Yangambi herbarium. In 1958 he became interim director of the botany division in 1958.
